ARMA welcomes new chairman

24th October 2014|POSTED BY: Admin

The Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA) – trade body for the leasehold management sector, is pleased to announce the appointment of its new chairman - West of England Estates Management Managing Director, Martin Perry.

Martin said ”I feel genuinely privileged to have been asked to chair ARMA, and am lucky to be doing so at what is an important time for the organisation with the launch of ARMA-Q.”

ARMA-Q is the landmark self-regulatory regime for the residential leasehold management sector, which has been developed by ARMA and contains a number of measures specifically designed to protect leaseholders.

Martin continued: “When I joined ARMA in 1987 it was a trade body focused exclusively on providing information and training and lobbying on behalf of its members, which it continues to do. But we had a bold vision to extend the remit of ARMA to provide an independently assessed quality standard for our members. I am very excited to become chairman just as that vision now becomes a reality.”

Michelle Banks, ARMA CEO said “It is very important to have a smooth transition in governance, especially when ARMA stands on the brink of introducing ARMA-Q. Martin has the advantage of a long association with ARMA as well as his experience in block management. The secretariat and I are looking forward to working with our new chairman.”

West of England is a small property management company and Martin is still what he describes as “a jobbing property manager,” but he is confident that he can successfully reconcile the role of managing director of his own firm with the challenge of being ARMA’S chairman.

Prior to taking on his new role, Martin chaired the ARMA Technical Committee for two years and for the last year has chaired the Finance and Corporate Affairs Committee.

Martin will be ARMA chairman for two years and takes over the position from Ben Jordan – Managing Director of Premier Estates.
