ARMA’s 2021 Annual Conference will take delegates back to the future of residential property management, by refocusing on the key issues set to shape the sector over the coming years.

Day 1

  • 10.00 - 10.05 Introduction: Nigel Glen, ARMA 

  • 10.05 - 10.15 - Michael Jacobs, ARMA Chairman & MLM Property – 'ARMA and Industry Updates' - ARMA’s Chairman will introduce our Conference theme ‘Back to the Future’ and outline what the next four days have in store for delegates as we negotiate our way through the challenges and opportunities facing the industry. 

  • 10.15 - 11.15 - Nigel Glen, CEO, ARMA - 'ARMA and Industry Updates' - Nigel will look at ARMA’s performance over the past year, including its work with Government on regulation, cladding and Commonhold.

  • 11.15 - 11.25 - Refreshment Break

  • 11.25 - 12.25 - Shelley Jacobs, MLM –‘Wellbeing and Resilience’ - Shelley will be discussing some of the key findings from the recent wellbeing survey conducted by ARMA and the IRPM and will then provide some insight into how organisations can foster a culture of wellbeing by increasing employee engagement, understanding stress in the workplace, supporting employees with mental health issues and helping to develop resilience and manage stress. There will also be an opportunity to ask Shelley any questions around these topics.

Day 2

  • 10.00 - 10.05 Introduction: Nigel Glen, ARMA 

  • 10.05 - 11.05 - Dr Shaun Lundy, Tetra Consulting – ‘Building Safety Bill- Shaun Lundy, the Director of Strategy and Innovation at Tetra Consulting, will tackle the new building safety regime. During the session he will discuss how a proportionate, risk-based approach to building safety, backed up by clear guidance on what good looks like, will benefit both managing agents and residents.

  • 11.05 - 11.15 - Refreshment Break

  • 11.15 - 12.30 - Andrew Mellor, PRP – 'An Overview of Building Regulations' - Andrew Mellor is a Partner at PRP and an architect by profession, leading the practice’s multidisciplinary Development Consultancy team. Andrew will provide an overview of recent and forthcoming changes to Building Regulations, as well as the Fire Safety Act and an in-depth summary of the proposed Building Safety Act. He will also discuss what the anticipated technical, process and cost impacts and benefits will be for the residential industry.

Day 3

  • 10.00 - 10.05 Introduction: Nigel Glen, ARMA 

  • 10.05 - 11.15 - Cassandra Zanelli, PMLS & Justin Bates, Landmark Chambers – ‘Legal Updates’ Several landmark cases have passed through the courts in the past 12 months, with many of them having a potentially significant impact on managing agents. In this lively (and interactive) legal update, Cassandra and Justin will consider the important decisions of the Courts and Tribunals and look particularly at the impact of those decisions for managing agents.

  • 11.15 - 11.25 - Refreshment break

  • 11.25 - 12.25 - Linn Byberg, Institute of Business Ethics – Day 3, ‘Ethical Leadership’ - Linn Byberg is the Senior Engagement Officer at the Institute of Business Ethics (IBE). Her key areas of focus include corporate engagement, product management and raising the organisation’s profile. In this session Linn will outline what constitutes ethical leadership, what doesn’t, and how businesses can develop leadership at all levels by empowering people to make good decisions.

Day 4

10:00 - 13.00 - Partner-Run Tech Talk Sessions

On the final day, delegates can tap into a wealth of industry expertise as we open up the floor to our ARMA Partners who will provide delegates with free guidance on their chosen ‘Technical’ or ‘Business’ topics.
