Waking Watch Relief Fund Re-Opens to Applications

On Wednesday 26 May the Waking Watch Relief Fund re-opened to applications for a four-week period using unallocated funding from the initial £30 million. The application period will close on 24 June 2021. This tranche of the funding will be administered by MHCLG and applicants should use the application forms here.

Funding is available for the reasonable costs to support the installation of an alarm system in eligible buildings. To be eligible a building must:

  1. Be over 17.70m in height.
  2. Be a residential building.
  3. Have a Waking Watch in place which has been identified and agreed by either a Competent person or via Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) intervention to support a move to a simultaneous evacuation fire safety strategy and where unsafe cladding is present on the building, and where, as a result of the lease agreement, Waking Watch costs are being passed on to leaseholders.
  4. Be located in England.
