Description

On 25th May 2018, the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force. This new regulation will change the way many businesses operate, particularly in relation to how organisations handle and protect customers’ and users’ personal data. And with the consequences of non-compliance potentially leading to huge fines of 20 million euros or 4% of global turnover (whichever is the greater) it’s imperative that managing agents are GDPR compliant.

Content

In this interactive workshop, the following areas will be covered

  • Who does the GDPR apply to and why does it apply to you?
  • What information does the GDPR apply to?
  • Data protection principles
  • Individuals rights
  • How is your organisation processing personal data?
  • Consent

In addition, you’ll be provided with some practical tips and checklists for the data mapping exercise your organisation will need to undertake, and the amendments and updates you’ll need to make to your data protection policies and procedures.

Audience

Any data controller (ie the person who says how and why personal data is processed) should attend. But the buck doesn’t stop there.GDPR now places obligations on processors too, and for the first time data processors have direct obligations and liability for a breach.

This seminar is therefore suitable for not only those who act as data controller, but also any member of an organisation whose processing personal data.GDPR is going to affect all managing agents because all managing agents hold personal information in relation to leaseholders, residents, occupiers, other interested third parties etc.
