Today ARMA is publishing online a ‘live’ list of the successful ARMA-Q accredited Members and Associates to date.
ARMA Chief Executive Michelle Banks said that she was extremely pleased at the success of the ARMA-Q accreditation process, with a high level of demand for accreditation from existing Members and increasing interest from a large number of new applicants.
“The ‘live’ list is published on our website, which is an important staging post that provides deserved recognition for our successfully accredited Members, and encouragement to those aspiring to accredited status.”
All applicants go through the same stringent application process, and each application is given the same level of attention,” Michelle Banks explained. “This is fair to the companies and their leaseholders – and, importantly, it means that ARMA is giving each company the dedicated support on which it prides itself. A significant number of applications are still being processed. We will add the names of both existing and new companies to the ‘live’ list as they achieve accreditation.”
Where companies need more time to meet the criteria for accreditation, ARMA has offered them Associate status. Associates have until the end of 2015 to achieve accreditation.
“This underlines the value we attach to maintaining our links with all our Members and in helping them to maintain high professional standards,” Michelle Banks said.
All Members must now be ARMA-Q accredited, the self-regulatory regime designed by ARMA to protect consumers and provide clear good practice standards for managing agents. ARMA’s new Guide to joining ARMA will be published at the end of April.

What is ARMA-Q?
ARMA-Q is the new self-regulatory regime for ARMA managing agents. It aims to raise standards and quality of service across the residential leasehold management sector – hence the Q for quality. ARMA-Q places consumers at its heart. It features:
- An independent Regulatory Panel;
- A Consumer Charter;
- Standards which are specific to managing agents.
Despite persistent lobbying by ARMA, the leasehold management sector still lacks statutory regulation, so anyone can set up as a managing agent and start trading. This has led to inconsistencies in service levels and has dented consumer confidence in managing agents. There are a lot of good managing agents out there and we want to make them stand out.
What we do:
- Set high standards in residential block management;
- Require our members to meet those standards;
- Provide technical advice and guidance to our members;
- Produce information and advice notes for leaseholders;
- Run training courses on the leasehold system;
- Promote professionalism in property management; and
- Campaign for improvements in relevant legislation and policy.
